Footpath 55 from the Definitive Map is now clear and accessible for walkers.

The footpath runs from Mill Road, just south of Round Roblets in a south westerly direction to the parish boundary with High Easter where it continues as footpath 27.

After a few early morning flurries of snow the sun came out, turning it into a perfect day for a group of volunteers to clear footpath 55, a footpath that had long been unused and overgrown.

The group comprising Jim Willsher, Val Simpkins, Peggy and Jeffery Giblin, Jan and Maurice Bailey, was led by Tim Gardiner, Essex County Council Public Right of Way Officer, who gave a short safety briefing and carried out a risk assessment.

Although the work was harder than anticipated, it was with a sense of achievement that after two hours the path; which has 3 stiles and a bridge; was cleared of brambles, thicket and branches, and two new posts dug in.

We would like to encourage people to use the path, as using it helps to keep it clear and accessible.
