also have notices up in the village asking for information. They say
that all their vehicles and those of their contractors will carry the BT
Open Reach logo. Having spoken to BT security they would also like to
hear from anyone who may have noticed persons taking an interest in BT
manhole covers or anyone who is taking photos. You can report this
direct to them on 0800 321999 and quoting Operation Eiger or call
Operation Eiger team on 01908 293123 or email them on eiger@bt.com. If
you see a vehicle that does not carry a logo then we need to know. One
resident has already called in 24th
November – Winchmore Hill, Good Easter There
has been a rise in Dwelling burglaries in the last few weeks in the
Chelmsford area and many of these involved high value vehicles being
stolen from properties. Residents are being advised to keep all car keys
out of sight from any window and also out of sight from your letter box.
If possible take your keys to bed with you at night. Also ensure that
all doors and windows are secure both during the day and night and if
possible leave an upstairs light on if going out. There
are various phone scams going around at the moment. There are companies
offering free home security checks who claim to work with Essex Police,
(THEY DO NOT) they may offer free alarms and others who claim that there
has been fraudulent activity on you bank account.
Please just SAY NO THANK YOU and put the phone down. Never give
anyone any personal details over the phone. If however you have already
received a call and you are at all concerned then please do not hesitate
to call Essex Police 0300 333 4444. Good Easter Neighbourhood Watch would like to send information regarding local incidents out to local residents by email, if this is of interest to you then please contact me - Brenda Cross - mobile 07970 599923. e-mail brenda.cross@essex.pnn.police.uk
NW has been operating in our village since 1993 and the whole village is covered. Good Easter has been listed as being one of the safest villages to live and we are fortunate that we do not suffer from much crime. If something out of the ordinary takes place in the village residents are on the phone straight away to report it. To call the police in Chelmsford in an emergency dial 999 In a non emergency call 0300 333 4444 this is a 24 hour service. One piece of advice is to always make sure that you are given an incident number when you call as you can then refer to this at a later date, also mention that you are a Neighbourhood Watch member. Information on the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) can be found on the Essex Police website www.essex.police.uk Once on to the site simply add your postcode to the link and you will be able to get all the information on your NPT. Regarding Neighbourhood Watch in Good Easter we have a team of 5 volunteers who deliver information to local residents. This information covers crimes that occur and also crime reduction advice. It is a well known fact that if everyone took onboard this advice then incidents of crime would be seriously reduced. One of the worst crimes that occur are Distraction Burglaries / Bogus callers. Those who commit this type of crime always target the elderly or vulnerable residents. They often work in pairs and claiming to be from the Waterboard etc. Quite often whilst one is keeping you talking at your front door the other one enters your property through your rear door. It is important that the rear of properties are secure at all times. Many residents call Neighbourhood Watch if they are unsure of someone at the door. The contact number for Good Easter Neighbourhood Watch is 01245 231704 We can all work together in partnership to keep Good Easter a safe and pleasant place to live.
